Waterproof flooring is an important choice for many homeowners today. It could be that they have a basement home that is apt to take on moisture. They might also be looking for flooring for use in an outdoor space. Whatever the need, waterproof flooring can come in handy in many spaces.
There is often some level of confusion when discussing waterproof flooring. Some people believe that water resistant flooring is just as good as waterproof. However, it’s not the same thing.
Water resistance means that your flooring will be able to stand up under water and moisture better than flooring that isn’t water resistant. However, the operative word here is “longer”. Most flooring is water resistant, including LVT, LVP, tile and laminate.
Waterproof, however, means that even in the event of a flood, you can simply dry off your flooring and reinstall it. Waterproof flooring will take on no permanent damage.
